Yep...it's a different world parents! Here are a few tools that helped my kids have grade school be 'easy'.
Have your kids begin learning to type in Kindergarten. It will take them. year or 2 to become proficient, and by 2nd grade they will need this skill!
I don't know if this is just a Florida thing, or if all states do this, but there is a system set up in Florida where you can read nearly any book, and this system quizzes you. It's fun to see your word count and points rise, while teaching the kids the great value of reading.
This is a great tool that we found to quickly learn addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It keeps you fresh on all these, and great way for the kids to monitor progress! Ascend Math Website
